Our Process and Standards
How a Chestnut Heights job runs from your first call to the cleanup, and the standards every job is held to.
From First Call to Follow-Up
Clay Parrish manages the company and oversees scheduling and day-to-day operations, so the way a job runs is the same whether it is a dripping faucet or a remodel.
-
Your call
You describe the problem. We ask where it is, when it started and what you have noticed, then tell you what it sounds like and whether it is urgent.
-
An arrival time
We give you a time that is realistic, and we show up in it. If the day changes, we call you rather than leave you waiting.
-
Diagnosis
We find the cause, not just the symptom: we look, test, and run a camera when a drain line needs it. You can watch and ask questions.
-
A written quote
You get an honest quote before any work starts, written down, with the options laid out where there are real choices to make.
-
Your approval
Nothing starts until you say yes. If we find something unexpected once the work is under way, we stop and talk to you first.
-
The work
Done to code with the right parts for the job, and with a permit where the job needs one.
-
Testing
We test before we call it done: no leaks under pressure, drains running clear, a heater firing and venting as it should.
-
Cleanup
Old parts and packaging go with us, the work area is wiped down, and floors are left as we found them.
-
Follow-up
If anything seems off afterward, call the same number. You talk to people who know the job.
Our Standards on Every Job
- Work done to the Ohio plumbing code, with the right materials for the pipe and the fixture.
- Permits and inspections where the job requires them, through the city or county office that covers your address. In Elyria that is the city building department.
- Shoe covers indoors and drop cloths under the work area and along the way to it.
- Old parts taken away, including old water heaters, along with the packaging from new ones.
- Water and gas shut off and turned back on safely, with the system checked afterward.
- The problem and the fix explained in plain terms, before and after the work.
How Each Job Is Checked Before We Leave
Every type of job has its own test. This is what we check, and what you have in hand when we are done.
| Work type | What we test before we leave | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Leak repair | Water back on at full pressure, joints dry, nothing dripping after a wait | What failed and why, and whether anything nearby is likely to follow |
| Drain cleaning | Every fixture on that line drains freely; a camera look on main lines when needed | What caused the clog and how to keep it from coming back |
| Water heater replacement | Gas or electric connection, venting, relief valve and its discharge pipe, no leaks, hot water at a faucet | The manufacturer’s warranty papers and how to register them |
| Sump pump | Pump starts and stops on its float, the check valve holds, the discharge runs clear | How to test it yourself each year |
| Fixture installation | Supply lines and drains tight, flushes and drains properly, no leaks underneath | Care instructions and the spare parts that came in the box |
| Sewer repair | A camera look after the repair; inspection before backfill where the permit requires it | The camera findings explained, and what to watch for |
About warranties: manufacturers' warranties on water heaters, pumps and fixtures come with the product, and the paperwork stays with you. If something about our work does not seem right afterward, call us and say so.
Tidy Work, Finished Properly
Finished work should look as good as it works: valves level, trim tight to the tile, nothing left behind. Two finished bathroom jobs:
Quotes, Payment and Inspections
How is the quote put together?
After the diagnosis, you get the price for the work, written down, before anything starts. If there is a real choice, for example repairing a water heater or replacing it, you get both, with an honest opinion on which makes more sense for your house.
When and how do I pay?
We go over payment when we give you the quote, so you know before the work starts how and when it is due. There are no surprises added at the end.
What happens at an inspection?
For work that needs a permit, an inspector from the city or county office that covers your address checks the installation before it is covered up or put into service. You know ahead of time whether your job needs one and roughly when it will happen.
What if the job turns out bigger than quoted?
It happens with old pipes: a fitting that crumbles when it is touched, or a second problem behind the first. When it does, we stop, show you what we found, and give you the options and the price before going further.
