Accessibility Statement
Chestnut Heights Plumbing wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or voice control. Updated October 14, 2026.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across this website. These guidelines describe how to make web content usable for people with a wide range of disabilities, and they also make the site easier to use on a phone in a basement with wet hands.
What we have done
- Every page has one main heading, headings in order, landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer, and a “Skip to main content” link.
- The menu, forms, questions and tools work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline. The phone menu announces whether it is open or closed, and Escape closes it.
- Text and buttons meet the WCAG contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1, including text on gradients.
- Every photo has a text description; the map and the drawings have text descriptions and the same information appears on the page as text.
- Form fields have visible labels. When something is missing, the field is marked and the reason is written next to it, and the result of sending a form is announced to screen readers.
- Tables have headers, and on phones they become labeled blocks instead of scrolling sideways.
- The pages work at 360 pixels wide and when zoomed to 200 percent, and the site does not rely on color alone to carry meaning.
- Phone numbers and the email address are real links, so you can call or write with one tap.
How it is tested
Before each version of the site goes live, every page is checked with automated tools: HTML validation with accessibility rules, and Lighthouse accessibility audits at phone and desktop sizes, which must score 100. A layout check opens every page in a real browser at phone and desktop sizes and tests the phone menu, the forms and the tools. We also look at every page by eye and use it with a keyboard.
Automated tools cannot catch everything, and we have not had the site audited by people with disabilities. If something gets in your way, we want to know.
